# \&roomtier1bitrate

Room Option! ([`&room`](/advanced-settings/setup-parameters/room.md))

## Aliases

* `&rt1b`
* `&roomonlylowbitrate`
* `&rolb`

## Options

Example: `&roomtier1bitrate=1500`

| Value                  | Description                                                        |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| positive integer value | total room-only bitrate budget, in kbps, for weaker mobile devices |

## Details

`&roomtier1bitrate` changes the lower automatic room-only bitrate tier.

The default is `1500`-kbps.

This value is used for mobile devices that appear weaker, older, or under CPU pressure. It is a total room budget, not a per-stream bitrate. If the guest is watching three visible videos and the tier is `1500`, each video is requested at about `500`-kbps.

This automatic tier is mainly for guest-only room calls. If the guest is connected to a director or scene viewer, production-safe behaviour takes priority unless you explicitly use room bitrate parameters.

{% hint style="info" %}
Use this on the guest invite links if you want all guests in a room-only call to share the same low-tier value.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vdo.ninja/advanced-settings/video-bitrate-parameters/and-totalscenebitrate/roomtier1bitrate.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
